Benue to employ 9000 teachers, says Alia

Benue State will employ 9,000 teacher to boost education, Governor Hyacinth Alia said yesterday.
The Governor dropped this hint at the burial of the late first class chief, Tor-Jerchira, HRH Chief Clement Uganden, yesterday, in Vandeikya, the governor’s home local government.
A statement by Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Print Media, Donald Kumun, Alia said: “The number of teachers to be employed, is to further demonstrate his resilience to provide good governance for the state against the desires of antics of his administration, who have sworn oath of retrogression that he will not succeed.
“He re-echoed his priorities as Governor, to always do the needful in the interest of peace, justice, and development, and warned those who are smuggling evil intents against the State, to stay clear as nothing will derail his pact with the people, to continue to do good for them.
“Governor Alia assured the people of his commitment to continue to provide for their welfare such as prompt payment of salaries, pensions and gratuity, construction of rural and urban roads, health care facilities, quality education, security of lives and property, agriculture, and return of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their ancestral homes, among others.
“The governor who described the Late Tor-Jerchira as a beacon of hope and emancipation for humanity whom he impacted their lives positively, without knowing whose faces or where they come from.
“He expressed sadness over the death of the First Class Chief, and called on all Tiv sons and daughters, to emulate his virtues, by seeing their fellow human beings, as one indivisible entity.”
Collaborating the governor, a former Governor of the State, Sen. Gabriel Suswam, pledged his support for Alia given that the governor is doing well, regardless of their party affiliations.

El-Rufai labels Tinubu’s government ‘worst in Nigeria’s history’

By Kayode Sanni-Arewa
Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing it as the “worst, most corrupt, and most intolerant” federal government since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999.
Speaking to journalists in Katsina on Monday night, el-Rufai accused the government of widespread dishonesty and failure to address the country’s worsening insecurity.
“This is the worst federal government in Nigerian history, and all the indices have shown it,” he said.
He charged the Tinubu administration with spreading propaganda, particularly on the security situation in the country.
“They lied that security has improved in Nigeria. They read out numbers of bandits killed except the ones we know are the leading bandits… Dogo Gide is still around, Mallam Abba… Bello Turji is still around,” he claimed.
Issues of insecurity in northern Nigeria
El-Rufai questioned how many local government areas remain under bandit control in states like Katsina, Zamfara, and parts of Sokoto, accusing the federal government of ignoring the root causes of insecurity.
He also hinted at a political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections, predicting that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) would unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
El-Rufai was in Katsina to offer condolences to Governor Dikko Radda over his mother’s passing.
Days earlier, he had joined former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other political figures on a unity visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna.
He later described the visit as a symbol of “unity and brotherhood.”
