Diddy placed on routine suicide watch in New York jail
Sean “Diddy” Combs has been placed on routine suicide watch as he awaits trial in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, a source told Fox News Digital.
The source added that “this is common practice for high-profile individuals as they are admitted to a federal facility and not indicative of his mental state.”
Combs was arrested Monday in the lobby of a New York hotel, another source previously confirmed to Fox News Digital. He was charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and transportation to engage in prostitution in an indictment unsealed Tuesday.
In a statement to Fox News Digital on Friday, a Diddy spokesperson said, “Mr. Combs is strong, healthy, and focused on his defense. He is committed to fighting this case and has full confidence in both his legal team and the truth.”

The rapper entered a not-guilty plea hours after the indictment detailing his alleged sex crimes was unsealed. A judge on Wednesday denied a request by Combs’ lawyers to let him await trial under house arrest at his $48 million mansion on an island in Miami Beach, Florida, instead of the Brooklyn federal lockup, where he was headed.
When Fox News Digital reached out to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn for comment regarding Diddy being placed on routine suicide watch, their team replied, “For privacy, safety, and security reasons the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) does not provide information about conditions of confinement or internal security practices for any particular incarcerated individual.”

Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center has been home to several high-profile inmates, including R. Kelly and Ghislaine Maxwell.
In 2022, Kelly was placed on suicide watch at the federal detention facility after being convicted of racketeering and sex trafficking.
His attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, told Fox News Digital at the time that he “was placed on suicide watch for purely punitive reasons in violation of his Eighth Amendment rights.”
A few days later, Kelly was taken off of suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after being sentenced to 30 years in prison and ordered to pay a $100,000 fine on June 29, 2022.
Within the same month, Maxwell, who was convicted of helping ex-lover Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse girls, was placed on suicide watch just days before her sentencing hearing, despite not being suicidal, her attorneys announced in June 2022.
The attorneys, who complained about Maxwell’s detainment before, contended that their client was “not suicidal.”
“Ms. Maxwell was abruptly removed from general population and returned to solitary confinement, this time without any clothing, toothpaste, soap, legal papers, etc. She was provided a ‘suicide smock’ and is given a few sheets of toilet paper on request,” they continued in the letter. “A psychologist evaluated Ms. Maxwell and determined she is not suicidal.”

‘This might be my last album’ – Tiwa Savage hints at retirement
Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has hinted that her next studio album might be her last.
Taking to her Instagram Story late on Friday, December 27, 2024, she shared her thoughts after a series of posts, suggesting she has given her all to the music industry.
“This might be my last studio album. I am tired. I don try,” she wrote.
In a recent interview, Tiwa opened up about the upcoming album, revealing some exciting features and the emotional journey behind it. “One of the biggest artistes I featured on this album is hot, a lot of people’s crush. A lot of people say, ‘African Bad Girl.’ On my features, I’m always spitting like I’m a guy, but this album is stripping everything.
“There’s a song there called ‘I’m Done.’ It’s the first track. When you listen to it, I want you to hit me back and say, ‘I remember this,’ because I cried while recording that song. I was in the studio crying. I went out, came back again… My voice changed; every lyric reflects what I went through. Even now, it’s hard for me to listen to it sometimes,” she said.
The 44-year-old singer released her latest single, Mega Money Mega, on December 12, 2024. Earlier, on October 18, she dropped a soulful R&B track, Forgiveness.
In May 2024, the award-winning singer, songwriter, actor, and filmmaker released the soundtrack album for her debut feature film, Water & Garri. The project boasted collaborations with industry heavyweights, including Grammy nominees Olamide and Ayra Starr.

₦180m Hack: Nigerians question VeryDarkMan’s NGO theft claim
Social media commentator Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan is facing scrutiny after claiming that ₦180 million was stolen from his NGO account in a hacking incident.
In an Instagram video shared on Friday, Otse claimed that ₦180 million had been transferred to an unknown account, leaving just ₦20 million remaining.
However, his explanation has raised doubts, with many questioning its credibility.
Expressing doubt, Dr J, tweeting as #truebenny001, asked, “Was the money in the website or the bank?”
Basito, tweeting as #Itzbasito, remarked, “VeryDarkMan said ₦180m is missing from the ₦200m donation for his NGO. See scope o, like say we be primary school students.”
Mas Dinero, tweeting as #Mas_Dinero_, expressed disbelief, saying, “₦180 million don vanish just like that? Omo, hackers or no hackers, na who get mind dey this NGO? Because this story no clear o. Money wey no be yours dey waka anyhow? Better call EFCC; this drama don pass ordinary.”
Another user, Mikay (#stephen_mikay), added, “Lol. It is not possible! Banks set limits to certain transactions. ₦180m cannot go out of a bank account at once without verbal confirmation from the signatories!”
Some critics highlighted Otse’s history of scrutinising others.
Star Girl (#lil_maamiiii) tweeted, “If it were someone else sharing this VeryDarkMan story, by now he would have set his ring light, with his dirty sachet water and black singlet, analysing God knows what. Lmaooo.”
Datoyo (#heyitzpearl) echoed the sentiment, saying, “Lol. If it were someone else, he would’ve worn a singlet, carried sachet water, set his phone, and pressed record.”
Adding humour, God, anonymously tweeting as #BRILLIANT_ARIN, said, “VeryDarkMan said they hacked and stole ₦180m from his NGO website lmao. That’s a familiar method: set camera, blow up, then begin to use foolish scope for the fools who are their stan/audience.”
In the face of backlash, some users highlighted the importance of cybersecurity.
Vincent The Therapist (#mrhighfoster) noted, “This is why cybersecurity should be taken seriously in Nigeria. When you know you have a public account receiving a large amount of money, you should enforce its security.
“Now you see why cybersecurity is in high demand all over the world. It’s to prevent issues like this from happening. It’s a very valuable skill to learn for 2025.”
The controversy continues as netizens demand further clarification on the incident, with many questioning the veracity of Otse’s account.
