Having gotten wind of this tragic incident, the police operatives were said to have visited the crime scene and found out there were no marks of violence on the deceased.

Odutola said that while Ikechukwu was lost to the incident, his wife who was rushed to the hospital later regained consciousness and explained what happened.

The wife was quoted to have explained, “That when it was 2200hrs of 19/09/2024 she asked her husband whether she could put off the generating engine they were using to power their fans in their bedroom, but her husband told her not to do so until when the two of them slept off.

“That the generator must have wreaked the havoc that befell them before it put itself off when the fuel inside it finished”.

Eze was charged with three counts of attempted murder, murder and causing grievous harm, preferred against him by the Delta State Government.

However, yesterday, Justice Marcel Okoh found the defendant guilty of all the charge.

Delivering judgment, Justice Okoh held that the prosecution proved its case beyond every reasonable doubt.

He said that evidence provided by the deceased child’s mother, the pathologist, and the confessional statement tendered by the police established the prosecution’s case.

The court, on the other hand, rejected the defendant’s denial in his testimony before the court, and the retraction of his confessional statement.
