Just in: Police relocate Speed Darlington to Abuja to inflict more pain on him
The Nigeria Police Force has moved musician, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington “Akpi” from Owerri, Imo State, to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in a plot to inflict more punishment on the musician.
Ibom Focus learnt on Wednesday that Darlington is being moved to the police Force Intelligence Department (FID) from Owerri.
Top sources also revealed that Dasuki Galadanchi, the Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) in charge of FID had personally taken over Darlington’s case files from the police unit that arrested him before.
“Speed Darlington is being moved to Abuja. He is being prosecuted by DIG Dasuki Galadanchi who said his (Darlington) punishment was too short before they granted him bail the last time,” a top source revealed.
“The DIG personally took over his case files from the police department that arrested him and initially detained him in Abuja,” another competent source corroborated.
It was earlier reported that human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed that Nigerian music star, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, was behind the Tuesday’s police harassment and arrest of his client, Darlington “Akpi” in Owerri, Imo State.
Adeyanju, who made the confirmation in a post on his social media handle, had berated Burna Boy for having been producing songs against oppression but suddenly turning into an oppressor of Speed Darlington.
The lawyer had written, “Burna Boy behind harassment of Speed Darlington by the police. This is someone who has been singing against oppression and forming junior Fela now oppressing Akpi.”
Ibom Focus earlier reported that Adeyanju had confirmed Speed Darlington’s arrest in a statement posted on his official Facebook page.
Adeyanju wrote, “Our client Speed Darlington a.k.a AKPI has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”
He added that Darlington’s arrest occurred during his return to Nigeria for a show.
However, the reasons for the Darlington arrest remained unclear.
Meanwhile, Ibom Focus recently reported that the Nigerian police detained Darlington over alleged cyberstalking of Burna Boy.
Ibom Focus had reported that Speed Darlington was arrested and detained at the notorious centre of the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team in the Guzape area of Abuja.
The musician was then visited by Adeyanju who also told SaharaReporters that he had seen a petition written against Darlington by afrobeat musician, Burna Boy.
Darlington had been arrested in Lagos and tossed around many police formations in Lagos before he was taken to detention in Abuja by the IRT team who accused him of cyberstalking Burna Boy.
Adeyanju had noted that there was nothing to the petition to warrant Darlington’s arrest.
“I have met Speed Darlington” and he’s in good spirits, we are working to get him released on bail as soon as possible,” Adeyanju had added.
The police ACP investigating the case had told Adeyanju that the police could not release a copy of the petition to him but he let the lawyer read and digest the content.

I regret advocating Mohbad’s exhumation – Iyabo Ojo
Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has stated that she regrets advocating for the late singer Mohbad’s exhumation.
Iyabo Ojo during an interview with Biola Bayo on the ‘Talk to B’ podcast, expressed her regret following the burial delays and the ongoing disputes within the singer’s family.
“I wouldn’t have requested that Mohbad be exhumed If I knew his case would turn out this way.
“He hasn’t been buried till now. His dad says he wants DNA test done, and I heard the court has granted his request. But I heard his dad has conditions again.
“I just wanted Mohbad’s body exhumed so they could do the autopsy to find out the cause of his death.
“I did my best to be sure that everyone was investigated but when they came up with different theories, DNA became more important to them.”
Mohbad died on 12 September 2023 in a controversial manner, and buried the following day.
His body was, however, exhumed by the Lagos state police for an autopsy on September 21, 2023.
In October 2023, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba insisted that the singer would not be reburied until a DNA test is conducted on the singer’s son, Liam.

Davido’s ex- lawyer queries girl claiming to be singer’s daughter, insists DNA has proven otherwise
Prince Ajudua, the former lawyer of popular Nigerian singer Davido, has responded to a video of a young girl claiming to be the artist’s daughter.
The girl, identified on Instagram as Anu Adeleke, posted an update stating that she is now 11 years old and excelling in school.
Reacting to the video, Ajudua queried why the girl’s mother continues to insist that Davido is the father, despite conclusive DNA results proving otherwise.
He revealed that two separate DNA tests conducted at reputable clinics, including one chosen by the girl’s family for transparency, confirmed that Davido is not the father.
Prince Ajudua wrote:
“Which Davido please? After DNA tests at not one but TWO reputable clinics (one which Dr. Deji insisted your family choose for peace of mind) years ago, you are still doing this.
Why? I’m never moved to comment publicly but this is extremely unfair to both the Adelekes and the child.
“Please give it a rest. Once again, wish you and your family the best.”
The lawyer’s comment sparked mixed reactions online:
@elena_nel21: “Even as a Wizkid fan ❤️, please leave David alone. What is it now? Y’all are just looking for a way to bring him down. It’s never a crime to be a rich kid, ahn ahn, kilodé gan?”
@nene_george: “We the online family members were not informed about the DNA testing and the results. We wanna see it asap .”
@stella_acs__: “This mother has fed her child big false hopes .”
@hypemanguru: “Just imagine! A mother pushing her child to another man at all costs. If dem nor dey beat una, body nor dey sweet una.”
@suenmzy: “This baby fit be B-Red’s own, abi wetin be him name?”
The video has since gone viral, reigniting discussions about the case.

Unveiling The Truth: Cubana Chief Priest Clarifies Viral Gift Saga
Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, has denied claims of being related to Bethel Okechukwu, the phone repairer who gained attention after receiving a $30,000 gift from Afrobeats star Burna Boy.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Cubana Chief Priest clarified that the man in the viral video, who was thought to be his brother, is not his sibling. Burna Boy had promised the $30,000 to Bethel, which led to speculation about his connection to Cubana.
In his statement, Cubana Chief Priest dismissed the rumors, referring to the viral video as a “skit” made by content creators. He further stated that he has only three biological siblings, all of whom are financially independent and do not rely on him.
This statement comes after a heated feud between Burna Boy and Cubana Chief Priest earlier in the week, which garnered significant attention online.
