Trouble started when a staff member at Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) in Makurdi was tortured to death for allegedly stealing a phone.
The incident occurred at Gyado Villa, Kilometer 4 on Makurdi-Gboko Road. 
A lost handset case was reported to the youngsters of Gyado villa settlement, who invited the deceased, who was supposed to be a suspect.
The young people tortured him to death.
On Saturday night, a young group loyal to the deceased mobilised and destroyed the youth leader’s father’s home.
There was confusion at the Gyado villa hamlet, which is infamous for cult activity.
Many residents were observed packing up in fear of the unknown.
According to police sources, investigations have begun to determine who is behind the issue.
