Maverick singer, Charles Oputa aka Charly Boy, has opened up on his battle with prostate cancer.

Charly Boy disclosed that he suffered from stage 1 prostrate cancer which made him sterile and uninterested in sex.

In a statement, Area Fada as he is popularly called disclosed undergoing surgery to correct his challenge.

Against this backdrop, the singer said he decided to set up the Charly Boy Foundation to help men fight prostate cancer.

He said, “Now, I understand why men are scared because of this, I had Stage 1 Prostate cancer, I was lucky because my pee and everything were mixing with my bladder, it had become cancerous, so there was a need to just stop it in it’s track, and that’s why the next day after the examination, I was admitted.

“I stayed in Reddington Hospital for about five days, and my recovery was kind of quick. I can’t say now, that I’m totally free. This operation happened last year around May. After a successful surgery, you can imagine someone like me, who’s really not a religious person, my wife carry me go church, she said we must thank God, and of course I went to church, invited a few people, but wetin still dey cry for bush, still dey cry for bush, because throughout my challenge, I noticed, like I said earlier, that I had become so uninterested in sex.

“I used to think that as I don collect some 47 years from my wife, see finish don enter, but that wasn’t true, I just turned off, because my “thing” still wasn’t rising when it was supposed to rise, and I didn’t have the full command of my organ, and you know, for a man, your penis is like your priced possession.

“For a man wey no too get money, and him thing no dey too function, you feel less of a man, and that is why a lot of men that I know, they don’t want to talk about it, they want to just carry it as their own cross. But as I keep saying, it is bad. The sooner you check up to know what’s happening in your body, the better the more prepared you are.

“Now, like I said earlier on, while I was wondering what to do, and somebody had heard my interview on TV, and on the radio, I don’t mind mentioning his name. His is name is Louis Stan Ekeh, the computer guy who owns one of the biggest franchises with.Xenox Computers. And he said to me “you know, Charlie, the way that I’ve seen you answer questions, I think this is what you should sign off with, let this be part of the legacy you leave since you’re so good at talking to people and having sessions with men. Why don’t you do this as a full time job? And I said that’s the best idea I’ve ever heard and that’s how I jumped into action. And the thing about me is once you give me a good idea, I just run with it.

“So that’s how we set up the Charly Boy Foundation and we began working with different people; hospitals in the East, in Umuahia, in Owerri, Enugu, and Abuja. We are in partnership with these organizations. And our primary duty was to raise funds knowing that men can be slow in medically checking themselves, and I, as the Chief Campaigner for awareness against Prostate Cancer, my duty is to relate with the men in such a way that they can have a test done, at least, for the first time.

“Depending on your location, it typically costs about 50k to 100k but the foundation is ready to offset half or perhaps even three quarter of the test fee and this is why we need funds and donations to help other people who may not have the wherewithal to pay for the basic test.

“After the basic test and the results are not so bad, we can also help with follow-up medications but if the results say it is quite serious, we can randomly select certain patients and make funds available for a full surgery. So, this is our modus operandi but the thing is, I really can’t do it alone. I’m not a doctor, nor do I have anything to do with the medical sector. My job is majorly to create awareness and publicize to the men that openness is important in these challenging times.”

Charly Boy also called on well meaning Nigerians to support his initiative so as to help others suffering from the ailment.

He added: “So, for any family that has gone through what I have gone through, they will understand, and all they can do is help us with their widow’s mite, whatever they can afford. The truth is I’m still scratching my head, I don’t see a lot of NGOs that are catering for men, because it’s all about women and children, I mean, men are human beings too.”

American R&B singer Chris Brown has been ordered by a California court to pay nearly $13 million in damages to his former housekeeper, Maria Avila, after she was severely injured in a dog attack at his Los Angeles-area home.

The verdict was delivered on Tuesday, June 30, following a two-week trial in which a jury found Brown and his company, Black Pyramid LLC, liable for negligence over the December 2020 incident.

According to court proceedings, Avila was attacked by Hades, a 200-pound Caucasian shepherd kept on Brown’s Tarzana, California, property, while she was taking out the trash. The attack left her with serious injuries.

Avila was awarded $12.9 million in damages. In addition, her sister, Patricia Avila, who witnessed the attack while working at the property, received $885,000 for emotional distress. Maria Avila’s husband, Oscar Olivo, was also awarded $50,000. Speaking after the ruling, the family’s attorney, Michael C. Murphy Jr., expressed satisfaction with the outcome, saying the verdict brought justice after more than five years of legal proceedings.

Brown maintained during the trial that the dog was kept strictly for security purposes and was not his personal pet. However, testimony presented in court alleged that after the attack, the singer left the scene instead of assisting the victim or calling emergency services.

According to evidence heard by the jury, Brown drove around for several hours while members of his staff contacted emergency responders and attended to the injured housekeeper. Brown told the court he stayed away because he feared his presence would trigger intense media attention if he appeared at the scene or spoke during the emergency call.

Before the trial, Brown acknowledged some responsibility for the incident. He also testified that he had warned Maria Avila and her sister not to enter certain outdoor areas unless accompanied by security personnel because of the dogs on the property.

The two sisters disputed that claim, telling the court they never received such a warning and suggesting language barriers would have made such a conversation unlikely. The ruling comes just days after Brown launched a co-headlining stadium tour across the United States with fellow R&B star Usher.

Nigerian TikTok content creator Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, has rubbished widespread speculation that his fiancée, Jarvis, is expecting their first child, insisting the couple has no immediate plans to start a family.

Speculations about Jarvis’ alleged pregnancy have circulated across social media in recent weeks, with many users claiming that recent photos and videos of the influencer suggested she was showing a baby bump.

The speculation intensified after footage of the couple shopping for their wedding asoebi fabric surfaced online.

Some social media users pointed to Jarvis’ appearance in the video, alleging that her stomach looked noticeably larger and concluding that she might be pregnant.

Addressing the claims during a livestream, Peller firmly denied the rumours, describing them as false and urging fans to stop spreading unverified information about their personal lives.

According to the social media personality, he and Jarvis have agreed to focus on building their careers and financial stability before considering parenthood.

Expressing his frustration over the persistent speculation, Peller explained that people had misinterpreted Jarvis’ appearance, stating that her stomach looked bigger simply because she had eaten late at night rather than because she was pregnant.

“I’m vexed that people are saying you’re pregnant. Can a pregnant woman cook at this time? I will get her pregnant, but right now, I’m still making a token for myself. I’m not ready for a baby,” he said.

He added that becoming financially successful remains his priority before taking on the responsibilities of raising children.

“I have to be making billions before thinking about pregnancy. Don’t put any pregnancy on my head. It’s late-night food that’s causing that big stomach,” he added.

Peller’s comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with some fans praising him for being open about his plans and emphasising the importance of financial preparedness before starting a family. Others, however, criticised the growing culture of speculating about the private lives of public figures based solely on their appearance.

The couple, who are among Nigeria’s most followed social media personalities, have continued to attract public attention since announcing their engagement.Geographic Reference

Despite the excitement surrounding their upcoming marriage, Peller has made it clear that becoming parents is a decision the couple intends to make only when they both feel fully prepared.

Celebrity lawyer Rita Amy Aduba has weighed in on the reported child custody dispute involving actress Regina Daniels and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, explaining the conditions the actress must reportedly meet before gaining access to their two sons.

Speaking in a video, Aduba said she reviewed a 15-page High Court judgment, which she claimed granted Regina supervised access to the children rather than denying her visitation rights.

According to the lawyer, the court ordered that Regina’s visits be supervised by the Abuja Social Welfare Office, stressing that neither parent should be excluded from the children’s lives.

Aduba listed the reported conditions contained in the judgment as follows:
Regina’s access to the children must be supervised by the Abuja Social Welfare Office.

The visits must ensure the children are protected from harm.

She is reportedly prohibited from bringing the children into contact with four named individuals: Samuel Ojeugu, Destiny Ojeofo, Ngozi Aniote Izuegu and Ijeoma Josephine Otabofina, popularly known as Phyna.

Temporary custody of the children remains with Senator Ned Nwoko pending the determination of the case.

Regina is required to undergo confirmatory drug tests at designated laboratories to establish that she is free from substance abuse.

She must also demonstrate that she is mentally fit during visits with the children.

Aduba maintained that the court’s decision was aimed at protecting the welfare of the children while preserving the parental rights of both parties.
