The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos has adjourned the high-profile N1.38 billion scam case involving music executive Jude Okoye and his company, Northside Music Limited, to October 23, 2025.
Jude Okoye, the elder brother and former manager of Nigerian music duo Paul and Peter Okoye of PSquare fame, is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on multiple charges of money laundering and financial misconduct.
Central to the case is a charge that alleges Jude, along with Northside Music Limited, unlawfully acquired a luxury property in Ikoyi, Lagos, worth ₦850 million in 2022; an asset the EFCC claims is linked to proceeds of unlawful activity. Jude, who was arraigned on February 26, 2025, has pleaded not guilty to all charges. 
During the most recent court session on June 4, the prosecution called its first witness, Peter Obumuneme Okoye, Jude’s younger brother and one half of the PSquare duo. In his testimony, Peter stated he never signed any cheques nor had access to the financial operations of Northside Entertainment while working under Jude’s management. He also clarified that although he received some funds from the company’s bank account, these payments were unrelated to royalties. According to him, the account also handled large sums from performances and endorsements.
Peter further revealed he only became aware of Jude’s separate entity, Northside Music Limited, in late 2022, and confirmed he never received any compensation from Lex Records during his time with the company.
Following the testimony, Justice A. Owoeye adjourned the trial, with new proceedings scheduled to continue on October 23 and November 10, 2025.
The EFCC’s case against Jude Okoye has attracted widespread attention due to the defendant’s high-profile ties to Nigeria’s music industry. With fresh court dates set, the spotlight will remain firmly fixed on the unfolding legal drama involving one of Afrobeats’ most notable behind-the-scenes figures.
