The Honourable Minister of Incubation, Science and Technology and the 2023 All Progressives Congress, (APC) governorship candidate in Enugu State, his Excellency, Chief Geoffrey Uche Nnaji has described Professor Nnamchi’s return to the party as “a restoration of strength, intellect and capacity to the progressives’ family.”

Chief Nnaji made the assertion when Hon Professor Nnamchi along with his constituents visited him in his Asokoro residence shortly after his defection to APC on Tuesday acknowledging his integrity, legislative impact, and unrelenting advocacy for youth and technological empowerment.

In a moment marked by strategic alignment and visionary clarity, Hon. Prof. Paul Sunday Nnamchi, Member representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency said the visit was significant and courteous.

Prof. Nnamchi’s symbolic and widely welcomed return to the All Progressives Congress (APC)  has stirred fresh waves of optimism across the political landscape of Enugu State and beyond.

This timely visitation was not merely a political formality; it was a convergence of intellect, purpose, and progressive patriotism of two statesmen—one a renowned academician-turned-legislator, the other a tested technocrat in national development—met to chart new pathways for scientific innovation and technological empowerment, especially for the youth of the South East.

Hon. Prof. Nnamchi, whose defection to the APC was rooted in a profound conviction to serve his people beyond the boundaries of partisanship, used the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to transformative governance.

He emphasized that his movement was not driven by personal ambition, but by a deep desire to align with a political platform that offers the tools and institutional will to deliver sustainable development, innovation-driven growth, and equitable progress.

Discussions during the visit delved into collaborative efforts on digital literacy, innovation hubs, rural tech inclusion, and targeted interventions in science education for under-served communities especially in the South East.

Both leaders agreed that the future of Nigeria lies in leveraging innovation as a unifying language to rebuild trust, hope, and prosperity across political and ethnic divides.

Prof. Nnamchi’s strategic visitation stand as a bold evidence to what becomes possible when principle meets purpose, and when politics is anchored not in division but in vision.

Indeed, a new chapter has begun rooted in reason, driven by responsibility, and guided by a shared dream of national renewal.

The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has disowned a purported report suggesting that the party has commenced grassroots mobilisation in Ekiti State for the presidential ambition of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in collaboration with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The party said “it will not support treachery which is what the Oyo State Governor represents.”

The PDP described the report as false, fictitious and entirely unauthorised, having neither emanated from the recognised leadership of the party in Ekiti State.

In a statement in Ado Ekiti, by the State Chairman of the PDP, Hon Lanre Omolase, the Ekiti PDP leadership considered the publication a mischievous fabrication apparently designed to create confusion, misrepresent the political position of the party and lend an unwarranted imprimatur to a political narrative with which the chapter has no affiliation.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Ekiti State PDP, under my leadership hereby distance itself completely from both the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and any purported presidential mobilisation project for Governor Seyi Makinde. No such mobilisation has been authorised, inaugurated or undertaken by the Ekiti State PDP leadership.

“Most importantly, Governor Seyi Makinde has never stopped to demonstrate treachery and we in the PDP in Ekiti State will not have anything to do with such character who is only stable in betrayal.

“The party therefore urge members, supporters and the general public to disregard the said publication and treat any claim purporting to speak for the Ekiti State PDP without authorisation from its recognised leadership as a product of speculation and political mischief.

“The leadership further cautions individuals and groups against appropriating the name, structure or authority of the Ekiti PDP to advance personal political interests. The party remains committed to due process, institutional discipline and the principle that only duly authorised organs and spokespersons can communicate its official positions.

“The Ekiti PDP leadership also advises media organisations and members of the public to exercise appropriate diligence before attributing political positions to the party, particularly on matters as consequential as presidential politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio has revealed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has more than enough to tell Nigerians as its achievements in office in the last three years, as the party prepares to kick-start its nationwide electioneering.

Akpabio stated this while receiving in courtesy, members of the Senate Committee on Tertiarty Institutions, TETfund and NELfund led by its chairman, Senator Dandutse Mohammed, in his Uyo residence on Monday.

A statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, quoted Akpabio, saying,” the current President has done a lot for Nigerians. He met an economy in shambles. When he came in, 27 states could not pay salaries and pensions but today, the story has changed because of his reengineering and thinking out of the box. In 2027 Nigerians will separate the shafts from the grains and re-elect President Tinubu for a second term in office.

” We have a President who thinks outside the box, bringing about innovation. We will have something to tell Nigerians about the unprecedented achievements of Mr President at the campaign grounds. Someone who is challenging him cannot even tell us what he did when he was governor. I can tell you what I did when I was the governor of my state. We will tell them a lot. Those in the opposition know too well, the achievements of this government in the area of the economy, agriculture, security, education and fiscal policy, but because they are in the opposition, they won’t say it”, he noted.

According to Akpabio, ” the 10th Senate under my leadership, has made giant strides and we are very proud of it. We will continue to collaborate with the Executive arm of government to achieve more for Nigerians. Even in this period of our annual vacation, you are here in Uyo doing your job. We don’t need to listen to the social media becaue it is gabage in, gabage out.”

Akpabio assured some of his colleagues who will not be returning to the 11th Senate that their loyalty to the party and Mr President will not go unappreciated, and charged them to continue to give in their best to the progress of the party and the success of the administration.

Earlier in his speech, Senator Mohammed said, “we are here today for a very important constitutional responsibility and to pay homage to our leader. The Senate President of the Republic of Nigeria. Under your leadership, we have enacted the law that is benefiting the Nigerian masses.

“
Nigerian parents are happy because of NELFUND and TELFUND. We are in Akwa Ibom State on sensitization and oversight on all of the infrastructures executed by TETFUND. On behalf of my colleagues, I want to sincerely appreciate your airport. This law is fundamental to the success story of the development of Nigeria, because education is key to success.”,he noted.
