The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has been honoured by the Public Accounts Committees (PAC) of both the Senate and House of Representatives for its efforts in upholding financial accountability and audit responsiveness.
The special recognition was made during the National Conference on Public Accounts and Fiscal Governance, held in Abuja, which brought together lawmakers, anti-corruption institutions, civic organizations, and finance experts to examine approaches to improving public sector financial management in Nigeria.
Committee leaders commended the NPA for its consistency in financial disclosures and for its engagement with oversight processes, and highlighted the Authority’s audit track record and its contribution to the success of the conference.
Describing the recognition as emblematic of institutional discipline, they pointed to the NPA’s audit practices and organizational transparency as key reasons for the distinction.

“The Authority played a crucial role in enabling this important fiscal policy discussion,” the Committees stated, noting that its approach to openness has become a reference point for other public institutions.
The award was received on behalf of the NPA by Vivian Richard Edet, Executive Director of Finance and Administration, who represented the Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantosho. She reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to continuing its reform efforts and maintaining transparency across its operations.
