It’s indeed mother luck at play as Chioma Okafor who joined the Nigerian female national team just two months ago has become National Awards bearer of Order of the Niger, OON, owner of a house and over N160million still counting…

Naijablitznews reports that Chioma who had been invited by her mother’s home country Malawi suddenly opted out when her fatherland Nigeria beckoned on her.

This option has paid off handsomely for the US based Chioma who studies at Connecticut varsity.

Although Malawi did not compete they had invited the player in February, before the NFF swung into action a few weeks before the WAFCON tournament.

The mother, Patricia Okafor had this to say about the surprise: “I don’t want to say anything against anyone, so no, I can’t say anything. All I know is that she trained with them in 2015. In February [2025], they contacted her to come over, but she couldn’t make it.

” But the Nigerian team were there asking for her; they are the ones who helped her to get a Nigerian passport,” she revealed.

“I have never seen it even. They told her to go to Atlanta, she went there and made the passport for her, so you can see how serious they are. They got her passport last month, so they were very interested in her.”

Food for thought for so many Nigerians out there.
