A former National member’sYouth Service Corps (NYSC) member popularly known as Raye has accused the scheme of denying her discharge certificate despite completing her mandatory service year in Lagos State.
In a detailed Instagram post on Saturday, Raye expressed frustration over what she described as procedural irregularities and unprofessional conduct by local NYSC officials over her pursuit of her certificate.
According to the NYSC, Rita is among 131 Corps Members whose certificates were withheld for valid disciplinary reasons. Her service year was extended by two months after she failed to attend the April 2025 biometrics clearance, in breach of the NYSC Bye-Laws. 
The principle of equal treatment was only applied in this case,” the NYSC stated. “Service extension for non-compliance with established rules is a long-standing practice within the scheme and should not be politicised.”
The agency stressed that the sanction was purely administrative and not politically motivated, adding that all Corps Members in similar circumstances face the same extension.
The NYSC urged the public to avoid misinterpretation and approach the matter with understanding.
“Nigeria is ours; Nigeria we serve,” the NYSC statement averred in debunking social media claims that Raye’s certificate was withheld because she called Tinubu a terrible president.
