Former President Barack Obama has explained the reason why Senate Republicans have failed to pass a pared-down Obamacare repeal bill despite several attempts.
It would be recalled that, in 2017, three Republican senators — John McCain, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski — and all Democrats voted against the bill, dealing a stinging defeat to Republicans and President Donald Trump who made repeal of Obamacare a cornerstone their campaigns.
Obama in a post on X stated that the Republicans have tried several times and failed because millions of people now depend on the ACA for quality, affordable health care. 
According to him, Republicans effort to revoke the Act is weakening the law.
“Since we passed the Affordable Care Act, Republicans have tried over and over to repeal it. And over and over, they’ve failed — in part because millions of people now depend on the ACA for quality, affordable health care. Now Republicans are trying something different: quietly weakening the law and hoping you won’t notice. We can’t let them.” He wrote.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA), formally known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and informally as Obamacare, is a landmark U.S. federal statute enacted by the 111th United States Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010.
