Confusion in Kano State as two children drowned in separate well incidents in Dala and Dawakin Tofa Local Government Areas.
Spokesman for the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed that a six-year-old boy, Ahmad Abdurashid, fell into a well at Dandishe Tsamiyar Goodluck area of Dala LGA on Wednesday, November 5. Rescue officials recovered the boy’s body and handed it over to his father, Abdulrashid, while investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing.
In a similar incident, an eight-year-old girl also drowned in a well on Tuesday morning at Kashirmo village in Dawakin Tofa LGA. Despite prompt response from the rescue team, she was brought out dead and handed over to the ward head, Abdullahi Garba.
The Fire Service has urged residents to properly cover open wells and avoid digging uncovered wells along roadsides to prevent further tragedies.
