Kalu Clinches APC Nomination in Bende Without Contest Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has been confirmed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, emerging without opposition.

His nomination followed a collective endorsement by registered APC members across all 13 electoral wards within the constituency.

These wards include Bende, Itumbuzo, Uzuakoli, Umuhu, Ozuitem, Umeimenyi Nkpa, Igbere A, Igbere B, Item A, Item B, Item C, Alayi, and Ugwueke Ezeukwu.

The selection process took place simultaneously across the wards, beginning in the afternoon, with strong participation from party members who gathered at their respective ward centres.

Stakeholders, ward executives, and delegates praised Kalu’s leadership and performance in office, pointing to his legislative contributions and efforts in grassroots development.

They viewed his unchallenged emergence as a clear sign of the trust and confidence he enjoys among party members and constituents. According to them, his time in office has brought meaningful projects, strengthened cohesion within the party, and ensured stronger representation for the constituency at the national level.

Following his confirmation, Kalu expressed appreciation to party supporters, community figures, youth groups, women’s organisations, and constituents for their backing.

He reaffirmed his intention to build on his record by delivering further democratic benefits, fostering inclusive governance, and pursuing policies aimed at improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities across Bende.
