Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denied entering into any agreement with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of, during or after the governorship election held in the state on Saturday.
The denial followed a claim by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, that the party worked with the Accord Party to prevent the All Progressives Congress (APC) from winning the election.
However, Adeleke, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the ADC was not part of the political alliance that supported his re-election bid.
The governor attributed his victory to God and the people of Osun State, while commending political allies who supported his campaign and contributed to his electoral success.
“I commend political partners who went all out to make Saturday a victory day for all Osun people. But we must clarify for the sake of history that ADC was never part of the alliance,” Adeleke said.
He added that his administration would now focus on governing the state irrespective of political affiliation.
“Now that the election is over, I am a governor of all Osun people irrespective of political groups, religion or race,” he said.
Adeleke was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), securing re-election for a second term.
