Adeleke slams fresh curfew on Ifon, Ilobu
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke yesterday imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on two local governments, following continued communal clashes.
The Nation recalls that Ilobu in Irepodun Local Government and Ifon in Orolu Council have been at loggerheads over disputed land, which has led to the killings of over 40 people and destruction of property.
The communities clashed in 2023, 2024 and this year after Governor Adeleke declared the disputed land as a buffer zone.
The communities started clashing on Monday, which nearly escalated before the intervention of security operatives.
The government through the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, yesterday said Governor Adeleke had ordered a dusk-to-dawn curfew on the two communities.
“Following outbreak of another communal clash between the people of Ifon and Ilobu, Osun State Government has imposed a 7pm to 7am curfew with immediate effect, starting from Thursday, January 16 until further notice.’’
A few hours after Governor Adeleke imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on the two local governments, a polytechnic student was yesterday shot dead during communal clash.
Ilobu Development Union (IDU) said a student of the Department of Computer Science, Westland Polytechnic, Ilobu was shot dead during an attack ‘’close to the palace this afternoon.’’
A statement signed by the National President of the union, Pastor Olufemi Salako, condemned the killing of the student, urging security operatives to arrest the perpetrators.

Ahead 2027, Obidient Movement Set Up Global Advisory Council
This was contained in a statement by its Coordinator, Dr Yunusa Tanko.
The emergence of the OBIDIENT movement has profoundly transformed Africa’s political landscape, particularly in Nigeria, where it has disrupted the norms of traditional politics. This movement, driven by passionate young Nigerians, has mobilized unprecedented support for Mr. Peter Obi, establishing itself as a formidable force in the country’s political arena.
Harnessing various media platforms, the OBIDIENT movement has effectively spread its message, engaged voters, and challenged the dominance of Nigeria’s major political parties. This new wave of political activism has sparked increased youth participation and reshaped the strategies employed in political campaigns across the nation.
What started as a grassroots initiative to reform Nigeria’s stagnant political system has evolved into a global socio-ideological phenomenon. The movement resonates deeply with citizens who are tired of corruption, insecurity, and economic hardship. Today, the OBIDIENT movement stands as one of Africa’s most impactful campaigns, inspiring people worldwide.
The driving force behind the movement is a collective desire for change, transparency, and accountability. The movement embodies the aspirations of a generation determined to reclaim Nigeria’s future and build a better nation for all its citizens.
It represents a unique ideological culture in Nigeria and across sub-Saharan Africa, rooted in the principles of volunteerism and unwavering commitment. It is driven by citizens who are disillusioned with retrogressive leadership, unfulfilled potential, and outdated stereotypes.
The movement transcends political affiliations, socio-cultural backgrounds, ethnic identities, religious beliefs, and racial boundaries, uniting Nigerians and Africans under a shared vision for progress.
The OBIDIENT Movement Ethos: The 5Cs for a New Nigeria
Competence: Deliver results.
Character: Lead with integrity.
Capacity: Handle complexity.
Credibility: Earn trust.
Compassion: Put the people first.
In building our structural base from the previous regional engagement we had and as approved by His Excellency Peter Obi kindly find below the list of Advisory Council and Directorate Members to be followed up with the states Collegiate at a later date.

ECOWAS Confirms Exit of Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Allows Free Movement
By Gloria Ikibah
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has formally acknowledged the withdrawal of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger from the regional bloc, effective Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
Despite their exit, ECOWAS has directed member states to continue allowing free movement for citizens of the three countries.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commission, ECOWAS reaffirmed its commitment to regional cooperation and solidarity, emphasizing that its doors remain open in the interest of the people.
Member states have been instructed to continue recognizing national passports and identity cards bearing the ECOWAS logo for citizens of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger until further notice. Additionally, trade and investment relations with the three countries will proceed under the ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme (ETLS).
This decision reflects ECOWAS’s intent to maintain economic and social ties despite the political shift, ensuring minimal disruption for the region’s citizens and businesses.
