Pastor Jerry Eze recalls, says “I met my wife when she was 17 with relish

Nigerian pastor and founder of Streams of Joy International, Jerry Eze has revealed that he met his wife, Eno when she was 17 years old.

Eno became a year older on Thursday, and to commemorate the occasion, the clergyman took to Instagram to shower his wife with compliments.

Jerry Eze wrote, “To the little girl I met at 17 who has blossomed to a virtuous woman,” he wrote.

“To the young Christian I knew who has grown to become a fireful vessel in the hands of God. To the shy girl I met who has grown to be a pillar of confidence and boldness.

“Who would not love a woman like you? Onye Oma m from way back, a million words cannot describe all that I have in my heart but on this special day of yours I pray may history be kind to you.

“May posterity remember you with joy. Our children – biological and spiritual all over the world will call you blessed.”

The couple have been married for over sixteen years. They have two children together.

Armed robbers infiltrate UI hostel, steal students’ phones, other valuable items

In a brazen attack on Saturday morning, armed robbers relieved students of the University of Ibadan in Oyo State of their possessions valued at thousands of naira during a raid on the Awolowo Hall of Residence.

According to several sources, the items taken comprised mobile phones, jewelry, clothing, and various other belongings.

A student, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “Aside from the lost items, the affected students were tortured during the raids that lasted for few hours.”

Another source explained that “the security section was alerted by the screaming of the affected students as they hurriedly swung into action.

“Some of the suspects who were arrested have been handed over to the police at Sango Police Station.”

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Institution, Joke Akinpelu, said, “The reports from the Hall wardens stated that the robbers carted away the mobile telephone handsets of the students.”

As of press time, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, could not be reached for comment.

Kebbi: Police neutralize four kidnappers, rescue victim

In a successful operation, the Kebbi State Police Command has neutralized four suspected kidnappers, detained one individual, and rescued a 60-year-old man, Umaru Bawa, in the Suru Local Government Area.

Furthermore, the police have recovered ₦3 million that had been previously paid as ransom.

A statement made available to newsmen on Saturday by the spokesman of the command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said the incident occurred on February 14, 2025, when armed men stormed Gobiraje village in Suru LGA and abducted Bawa.

“Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Suru swiftly mobilized police operatives and local vigilantes, tracking the suspects to Tundafari Forest in the Dakingari axis.

“A gun battle ensued between security forces and the kidnappers, leading to the neutralization of four kidnappers and the arrest of one suspect with fatal injuries.

“Other suspects escape with gunshot wounds into the forest while we rescue the kidnapped victim unharmed and recover the sum of ₦3 million in ransom money,” the statement reads.

The statement added that the Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M Sani, praised the officers for their bravery, professionalism, and swift response.

“The CP reassured the public of the command’s dedication to fighting crime and maintaining peace across the state. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station to enhance security efforts.

“The successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts by security forces to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities in the region. Over the past months, Kebbi State has witnessed a rise in security challenges, prompting intensified operations by law enforcement agencies.

“Authorities have encouraged residents to cooperate with security forces, emphasizing that timely information is crucial in preventing criminal activities,” it added.

The command, however, urged residents to contact law enforcement or report any suspicious movements to the police hotline.

Police confirm killing of social media girlfriend by alleged ritualist

The Police Command in Kwara has confirmed the killing of a final year student of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, Lawal Yetunde, by her boyfriend, whom she met on social media.

This is contained in a statement issued by the command Spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on Saturday in Ilorin.

She said the suspect had been arrested through the deceased’s tracked phone number to the suspect’s house at Offa Garaji area, Ilorin.

“The suspect was arrested but initially denied knowing her whereabouts.

“However, during a search of his house by the police, he confessed that she had visited him and allegedly died of an asthma attack.

“Upon further investigation, police discovered Yetunde’s dismembered body, hidden in a bowl, along with equipment used for the act.”

According to a source from the family who pleaded anonymity, Yetunde was last seen on Monday, February 10, 2025, while attending a naming ceremony.

“She received a call from a friend, stepped aside to answer, and then left.

“Since then, we’ve been searching for her everywhere, but no one knew her whereabouts.

” On Tuesday, her family reported her missing at Oja-Oba Police Station, Ilorin.

“The police used her phone number to trace her last call, which led them to a suspect, one Abdulrahman, living in the Offa Garage district area of Ilorin”, he said.
