BREAKING! Cubana Chief priest in hot soup as EFCC vows to nab him over alleged Naira abuse

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will, on Wednesday, arraign Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chiefpriest, over alleged naira abuse.

This comes few days after popular cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye aka Bobrisky, bagged a six-month jail term over naira abuse.

According to the anti-graft agency, Cubana Chiefpriest will appear before the Federal High Court in Lagos for spraying and tampering with the naira.

This was contained in charge sheet filed on April 4, 2024, by EFFC’s prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN) alongside seven other lawyers representing the chairman of the anti-graft agency.

It reads: “That you, Okechukwu Pascal on 13th Feb. 2024, at Eko Hotel, within the jurisdiction of the court, while dancing during a social event, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same for two hours, and you thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007”.

“That you Okechukwu Pascal sometime in 2020, in Lagos during a social event, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same for two hours, and you thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.”

”That you Okechukwu Pascal sometime in January 2024, in Lagos during a social event, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same and you thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.”

DJ Cuppy launches scholarship for African students

Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has introduced a scholarship programme to support African students at New York University (NYU).

The DJ and philanthropist announced the launch of the “Cuppy Fund” on Instagram, sharing her excitement about the initiative aimed at providing financial aid to African students pursuing studies at NYU.

“So PROUD to launch the Cuppy Fund for African students at New York University! 💜🎓🕊️ @cuppyfoundation @nyusteinhardt,” Cuppy wrote in her post.

Cuppy holds an impressive academic background. She earned a degree in business and economics from King’s College London in 2014 and completed a master’s degree in music business from NYU in 2015. In 2022, she graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in African studies, and she recently completed her fourth degree at the London School of Economics.

Her philanthropic efforts began in 2018 with the establishment of the Cuppy Foundation. The foundation raised over N5 billion for the “Save the Children” initiative in Nigeria in 2019.

In recognition of her charitable contributions, Cuppy was named an ambassador for the Lagos SDGs Youth Alliance in 2021.

This new scholarship programme marks another milestone in DJ Cuppy’s ongoing commitment to empowering African youth through education and philanthropy.
