By Kayode Sanni-Arewa
Murjanatu Zubairu, 400-level female student of the University of Abuja, who was declared missing on Friday, 26 April, 2024, has been found dead in a car accident on the Lugbe – Airport Road, Abuja.
Zubairu, a student of the Department of Arts Education in the university left home for school on Friday but her whereabouts remained unknown until Monday May 1
Confirming her death via a telephone chat with Daily Trust late Monday, her uncle, Zubairu Yewuti who is also a former vice chairman of Kwali Area Council of the FCT, said, “The family of Murja called me in the afternoon and they confirmed that she died in an accident that occurred on the Lugbe – Airport Road last Friday.
“They visited the mortuary at the University of Abuja, Teaching Hospital where her corpse was found.”
Yewuti noted that the deceased’s family had made arrangements to retrieve the corpse of the late student from the morgue for proper burial.
The accident, which occurred on Friday at 8:34 p.m. is said to have involved a Toyota Sharon bus near the Dunamis Church on the Airport Road.
The bus, which was at high speed, suddenly went up in flames, killing four persons including a female on the spot.
The Lugbe Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Commander, Sunday Ajokotola, while speaking with Daily Trust on Monday, said, “Before our rescue team arrived at the scene, six people among the 10 inside the bus that sustained burns were rescued by the Airforce personnel who were treated in their hospital.
“Our men arrived at the scene and evacuated the four others including a female that got burnt beyond recognition to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital’s morgue in Gwagwalada on that same Friday night.”
On Monday, Yewuti narrated that it was the girl’s parents who called him to know if he knew of her whereabouts.
However, efforts to reach her mobile number were futile.
He said, “It was her parents who called me to find out if Murjanatu came to my place, as efforts to reach her on the phone remained futile since she left home at Piwoyi on her way to school. I told them she didn’t come to my house. I also tried to reach her phone but it was switched off.”
Yewuti noted that the family reported to both the university management and security agencies about the missing student while appealing to the public to the nearest police station to the missing student is found.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Adeh Josephine, told Daily Trust, “I will find and then get back to you later.” [Daily Trust]

Edo guber: LP’s Akpata remains a front runner, set to capture Edo
By Kayode Sanni-Arewa
Less than twenty-four hours to the start of voting in Saturday’s governorship poll in Edo State, a rash of fake news has broken out.
Leading parties in the election have had their fair shares of fake news either indicating the withdrawal of their candidates or disqualification by a Magistrate Court or Supreme Court.
For instance, Olumide Akpata of LP was said to have withdrawn from the race and thrown his support for Asue Ighodalo in a statement that read smoothly and appeared convincing.
THE CONCLAVE sent the statement to Akpata via WhatsApp for confirmed.
He responded by sending the same statement with FAKE NEWS boldly stamped on it.
He said he was set for victory at the poll.
There was also a news flash about the Supreme Court disqualifying Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, with a sign off: More details coming….
A Magistrate Court in Abuja was also reported to have disqualified Monday Okpebholo of the APC from the poll on account of age falsification.
The APC campaign organisation had swiftly put a lie to the report by deploying the court papers in the circumstance.

Edo governor, Godwin Obaseki, who is the PDP leader in the state, had earlier cried out over alleged plot by the All Progressives Congress to rig the election.
As at the time of filling this report, it was unclear if other PDP governors would also hit the state for the election
