Zamfara Govt moves to destroy villages housing bandits after deadly ambush
By Kayode Sanni-Arewa
The Zamfara State Government has warned communities sheltering bandits, threatening to demolish any village involved in aiding criminals. Deputy Governor Malam Mani Mummuni delivered the warning during a visit to Tsafe Emirate, where he offered condolences following the ambush and killing of nine Community Protection Guards (CPG) by bandits along the Tsafe-Funtua road.
Mummuni specifically named Maikwanugga, accusing the village of giving bandits refuge and supplies, allowing them to plot and execute their deadly attack. “The village is less than half a kilometer from the main road, yet they chose to shelter the very people who turned against our security forces,” he stated.
He emphasized that the government will no longer tolerate communities betraying efforts to combat insecurity, warning that swift action would be taken against those collaborating with bandits. Mummuni also highlighted the devastating toll banditry has had on the state, with thousands of lives lost and property worth billions destroyed.
