2027: At the right time I’ll speak about my Presidential Ambition-Makinde
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared that at the appropriate time he would speak about his presidential ambition.
Declare that he is mature and capable of making his own political decisions without external influence.
This remark comes in response to recent rumours suggesting that he might challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. Makinde dismissed these speculations as unfounded and unnecessary, insisting that his political future will be a matter he addresses directly when the time is right.
Speaking at an event held at Fashola Farm in Oyo, he emphasized his independence and ability to advocate for his own political agenda.
“We didn’t do this (Host PDP reporters’ retreat) because somebody has a presidential ambition. No comment, nothing. But all I can say to you is, I’m old enough if I want to do something, I will come out and say, this is what I want to do.
“So, no speculation, nobody can push my agenda. I will push my agenda when the time comes,” Makinde said, countering the swirling speculations about his ambitions.
The governor recalled his political journey, marked by challenges and eventual success, emphasizing that his election as governor of Oyo State was solely the will of the people. He noted that, despite facing setbacks, including two unsuccessful Senate bids, the people of Oyo State chose him without the backing of any political godfathers or major sponsors.
The Governor said, “Oyo State people took a decision in 2019.
We did not have a godfather. Nobody sponsored me, nobody gave me a dime for us to get in here but the people of Oyo State decided, we wanted to give this opportunity to an outsider.
“And before that, you will see videos saying that Oh, Seyi, what has he done before? Has he been a councillor? No. Has he been to the House of Representatives? No. What about the Senate? I tried twice but was rejected. “So, experience in politics – No experience in governance but I’ve done well for myself in business and they said we’ll give you the opportunity and before that time, the whole of the South West was APC, all six states. “But in Oyo State, we chose to be different. Because I had no experience, I wanted to convince the people.
“We produced a document, Road Map to accelerated development of Oyo State, 2019-2023 and I said to the people, this is it in black and white, hold me accountable and they gave us the opportunity.
Thank God it is being done.” The governor also voiced concerns over the potential danger of Nigeria evolving into a one-party state. He stressed that a multi-party system is vital for providing diverse leadership opportunities and for allowing individuals from different backgrounds to showcase their abilities. “Nigeria must not slide into a one-party state so that others will have the opportunity to showcase their talents,” Makinde said, reaffirming his commitment to fostering a competitive political environment.

RESOLUTION AT NUJ FCT COUNCIL CONGRESS AND IMPEACHMENT OF CHAIRMAN PATRICK OSARETIN OSADEBAMWEN AND HIS EXECUTIVES
The National President,
Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),
National Secretariat,
Jahi District,
FCT Abuja.
19 October 2024
RESOLUTION AT NUJ FCT COUNCIL CONGRESS AND IMPEACHMENT OF CHAIRMAN PATRICK OSARETIN OSADEBAMWEN AND HIS EXECUTIVES
Members of NUJ FCT Council formally resolved at the Congress held on 19th October 2024 and impeached Chairman Patrick Osaretin Osadebamwen and his executives.
This followed the flagrant violation of Article 4(9d) of the NUJ Constitution, which stipulates that:
“The Credentials Committee at the State Council level shall be nominated by the State Congress subject to the approval of the National Secretariat.
“Membership of the Credentials Committee shall be drawn from among members of the Union in good financial standing who have no intention to vie for offices in the said elections”.
However, at the Congress, the impeached Chairman took laws into his hands and decided to handpick members of the Credentials Committee in a premeditated move to flagrantly violate the provisions of the NUJ Constitution as stated above.
Consequently, members in the exercise of the power vested in the Congress, passed a vote of no confidence on the Chairman and he was subsequently impeached along with his exco members by 2/3 majority of members present during the Congress.
In view of the above, the Congress, hereby, invites the national leadership of NUJ to quickly step into the prevailing confusion at the FCT Council to save the face of the Union.
Attached herewith is the list of signatures collated for the impeachment of Chairman Patrick Osaretin Osadebamwen and members of his executives.

Jigawa Gov Suspends Commissiner nabbed by Hisbah for commiting adultery
Governor Malam Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has suspended the Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwalu Sankara.
Naijablitznews reports that the suspension is to allow an investigation into allegations made by the Kano State Hisbah.
This was made known in a statement on Saturday signed by Malam Bala Ibrahim, Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State.
The state government said that the suspension was to allow for a thorough investigation to ensure transparency and maintain the integrity of the state administration.
Recall that the Kano State Hisbah Board arrested Sankara in an uncompleted building with a married woman.
Hisbah, known as the Sharia police, made the announcement following intelligence tracking and a series of complaints received about Sankara’s alleged misconduct.
Abba Sufi, the Director General of the Hisbah Board, confirmed the arrest, stating, “Yes, it is true we have arrested Auwal Danladi Sankara with a married woman in an uncompleted building. Unknown to him, we were tracking him based on reports we received against him.”
The allegations surfaced after Nasiru Bulama, the husband of the married woman, lodged complaints with multiple authorities, including the Kano State Police Command and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Bulama accused Sankara of engaging in illicit sexual activities with his wife, who is also the mother of his two children.
But the commissioner in a statement issued on Friday night, denied the allegations, describing them as false, baseless, and malicious.
