Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract that will keep him at the Emirates Stadium until 2030, with the deal reportedly making him the highest-paid manager in the Premier League.

The new agreement, officially confirmed by Arsenal on Wednesday, rewards Arteta for guiding the Gunners to their first Premier League title in 22 years last season.

Reports indicate that the contract is heavily linked to performance-related bonuses, with Arteta’s annual earnings potentially rising to around £20 million if he achieves a series of targets.

Arteta, who took charge of Arsenal in December 2019, has overseen a major transformation of the club and is now set to remain in north London for several more years.

His new deal is expected to put him ahead of other highly paid Premier League managers, with reports putting Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner’s potential earnings at about £14 million after bonuses.

The Spaniard’s new contract also extends what has already become one of the longest managerial reigns in the Premier League.

Arteta’s tenure at Arsenal began in December 2019, initially with the challenge of rebuilding a team that had struggled to consistently compete for the Premier League title.

His subsequent success has included major domestic progress and, most recently, ending Arsenal’s 22-year wait for the league championship.

The 2030 extension therefore gives Arteta a long-term mandate as Arsenal look to build on their recent success and establish themselves as a sustained force in English football.
