How Joshua Turned £15,000 First Pay To £500 Million Career Earnings
In the world of boxing, tales of rags-to-riches journeys often captivate audiences, but few stories rival the meteoric rise of Anthony Joshua. From his humble beginnings in the ring, marked by a meager £15,000 payday for his inaugural professional bout, to his staggering career earnings totaling £500,140,000, Joshua’s journey is a testament to unwavering resilience, unyielding dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, PETER AKINBO writes.
Before the glitz and glamor of the professional circuit, Joshua honed his craft in amateur boxing, amassing accolades and acclaim that foreshadowed his future dominance.
With an impeccable amateur record and a 2012 Olympic gold medal adorning his chest, Joshua transitioned seamlessly into the professional ranks, signaling the dawn of a new era in heavyweight boxing.
Emanuele Leo was his first opponent in the pros and he was quickly secured his first pro paycheck by knocking Leo out in the first round at the 02 Arena pocketing £15,000 for the bout.
Joshua went on to earn £50,000 in his next two fights which he won by knockouts against Paul Butlin and Hrvoje Kisicek. He followed that up with a £75,000 pay-day against Dorian Darch who also fell victim to Joshua’s knockout power.
His first million-pound purse would wait till his 8th professional bout against Konstantin Airich who he also dispatched by TKO and bagged a £1m purse. Joshua steadily climbed the ranks, each triumph contributing to his burgeoning reputation and financial standing.
Joshua’s ambition had always set him apart from his peers. In a candid interview dating back to April 2017, Joshua spoke of his aspirations to not only conquer the boxing world but to transcend it, aiming to become the sport’s first billionaire.
“When I first started, the aim was to become a multi-millionaire,” Joshua said.
“But now there are ordinary people, grandmas and granddads, who are worth millions just because of property prices. So the new school of thought is that I need to be a billionaire.”
Joshua went on to earn £1m from four other fights and £2m from wins over Kevin Johnson and Gary Cornish before a £3m purse for his win over Dillian Whyte and a total of £14.5m from his next three bouts.
However, it was his resounding victory over Wladimir Klitschko in the same month that catapulted Joshua into boxing stardom. Not only did the win secure his status as a heavyweight champion, but it also significantly boosted his earnings, with a staggering £15m purse attached to the fight.
His rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr., which saw him reclaim his titles from the American who handed him his first loss, brought in a monumental £66m payday, a testament to his enduring appeal and drawing power.
Joshua’s highest purse from a bout was made in his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk which he lost by split decision. In the first bout, Joshua earned £20m and in the rematch in Saudi Arabia, the two-time heavyweight champion bagged a whopping sum of £70m.
Undeterred by setbacks, such as his defeats to Usyk, Joshua showcased his resilience by bouncing back with triumphant victories in his next four fights which saw him earn a total of £86 with the biggest pay coming from his most recent fight against Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia where he pocketed £40m.
Each victory not only added to his legacy in the ring but also swelled his bank balance, underscoring his status as one of boxing’s most bankable stars.
Looking ahead, Joshua’s sights are set firmly on the horizon, his appetite for success as voracious as ever. With a record of 28-3-0 (25 KOs), the 34-year-old now has his sights set on becoming a three-time heavyweight champion.

BREAKING: Again Portable fights in shopping mall in Canada
Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable has clashed with a man at a shopping mall in Canada who insisted that the singer must visit and promote his business.
In a viral video, the “Zazuu” crooner was seen having a verbal exchange with a fellow Nigerian.
Portable later explained that the said man wanted him to visit his restaurant and help promote, which he refused since he didn’t pay him.
The said man got confrontational and began trying to stir up drama and both started hurling insults at each other while others tried to mediate the issue.
Portable and his managers subsequently reported the matter to security who noted they captured everything on camera.
He said: ” Before we entered the mall, I exited the car, I was walking towards the door and this organizer of the Regina show drove right in front of me and if I didn’t step back he would have hit me all because I didn’t want to go to his restaurant to promote his own personal business and he didn’t pay me for any of that.
”I didn’t say anything to him. I just wanted to buy some clothes and relax before the show. After we entered the mall, I went on my own shopping with my @djchelsea.official and the organizer for the Regina show came up to me and said I have to take pictures with every fan that comes up to me.
”I said you can’t tell me what to do I’m just shopping, enjoying my private life right now and then the organizer threatened to slap me and beat me. I tried to get him to stop and he yelled at me.
“Then I called my Canadian promoter @ajbone1 and AJ told him he can’t speak to an artist this way. Now the organizer shoved and hit my promoter AJ Bone while he continued to threaten me and then he hit me as well!!
“The security officer saw everything and they know I did not start the fight and I didn’t hit anyone. The other security officers saw the security cameras and they told me to press charges. The police is dealing with this matter.”

What Pasuma’s Daughter Says About Her Dad, What She Does For A Living
One of the daughters of Fuji Star, Alabi Pasuma, Rokeebat Omobolaji Odetola is one of the wave-making music promoters in the music industry.
She is one of the daughters of Fuji star, Alabi Pasuma. But many didn’t know that. She also does not tell them, unless you ask.
In a chat with City People Publisher, SEYE KEHINDE at Imole residence of her father in Lagos, she said,
“Being Pasuma’s daughter stops outside the gate of my house here. When I leave my house and I go out, nobody knows me. I can say maybe when I worked with Danny S, that was when they started saying you don’t know my Manager, she is Pasuma’s daughter.
I tell those artistes that they should please leave aside my being Pasuma’s daughter, lets work, forget my background. Why I usually tell them to forget my background is because my father is not in support of it. I had to like force and beg him to allow me do what I do. So, I am not always proud to say it.
I don’t know who is very close to him that I will meet and he will pick up the phone to call him to say Paso your daughter is here, blabbing outside. She is in a club. So, I do go to shows on a lowkey level. I am not loud.
When I first started I decided he must not know, then. So, I was always not proud to say I am so, so, so, so daughter until when the glory started to show up and he started calling me CEO.
He will call me Rawkey White, the CEO. Rawkey White Entertainment endorsed by your daddy. That is how people now started to know that I am Pasuma’s daughter.
Till now, most people are still doubting whether I am Pasuma’s daughter or not based on the way I relate with them on the public. His name is aside. My name is aside.
I never thought of using his name to climb up. Right from time, I am always around his boys. I can say maybe I am the only child that relates with all of his boys. You met me outside with them gisting.
Right from childhood, I had the feeling, I had the plans that when I grow up, I want to have this kind of house (points to his dad’s house in Omole) and put my people there like my dad did here, and I want to be the boss. That is my own aim. So when I started working, I had my own office, I also had my people.
I have people who work for me. I thank God. So, the name is just different. I started it not to prove him wrong. I started it because I want to do it. All I want to do is to just manage artistes, not to sing. I started as part of the artiste’s entourage. I just follow artistes without any position, as part of the crew.
What I do is when I leave my gate, I leave my name inside my room. When I go outside, I want to know what’s up. I go to see DJs, go to shows, meet up with artistes and life goes on. I am happy I have been able to stabilise my business.
I have a car. I have a P.A. I have an official Photographer. I have a crew. I have a driver. I have my blogger.
Basically I have people that work for me. But I am not in that boss level yet. I am still training them. So, I do the main job myself, they also handle artistes on my behalf.”
