Colombian singer Shakira and Nigerian singer Burna Boy perform during the halftime show of the 2026 World Cup football tournament final match between Spain and Argentina at the New York/New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford on July 19, 2026.
FIFA ushered in a new era of entertainment on Sunday as the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final featured the tournament’s first-ever official halftime show, transforming football’s biggest match into a global music spectacle.
The historic production took place during halftime of the World Cup final between defending champions Argentina and Spain at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, marking the first time FIFA introduced a Super Bowl-style halftime performance at the tournament’s showpiece event.
Curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in partnership with Global Citizen, the approximately 11-minute show formed part of an extended halftime interval and was produced by Live Nation and Done + Dusted, with veteran live-event director Hamish Hamilton overseeing the production.
The performance also supported the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aiming to raise $100 million to expand access to education and football opportunities for children worldwide. Organisers said participating artistes volunteered their performances in support of the campaign.
Global music icons Madonna, Shakira, BTS and Justin Bieber headlined the show, joined by Nigerian Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy, renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel, musicians from the New York Philharmonic and Venezuela’s Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, the PS22 Chorus, Uganda’s Ghetto Kids, singer Emmanuel Kelly, and characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets.
Canadian singer Justin Bieber performs during the halftime show of the 2026 World Cup football tournament final match between Spain and Argentina at the New York/New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford on July 19, 2026.
One of the standout moments came as Shakira and Burna Boy reunited to perform “Dai Dai,” the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following their appearance at the tournament’s opening ceremony.

BTS thrilled fans with a performance of their global hit “Dynamite,” while Justin Bieber delivered a slower solo performance. Madonna brought a high-energy set that formed one of the show’s defining moments, as orchestral performances, choral arrangements, dance ensembles and family-friendly appearances reinforced the production’s message of unity and hope.
